The McAllen School Board toured potential construction sites for the $97.8 million 2005 School Bond on Sept. 27. Boarding a school bus, the board and district officials visited plots of land in north McAllen and one in south McAllen. There is a 32-acre site south of 5-mile line and Ware Rd. They went to a 25-acre site that was north of 5-mile line and 29th St. and later visited an 8.4-acre plot just north of Morris Middle School at Trenton and Main St. The School Board also toured the area where a replacement school for Zavala and Thigpen elementaries will be built adjacent to the current schools.
