Students in first through fifth grade participate in the Accelerated Reader program. This program has been in use at Bonham for eight years and has proved very successful in getting students to improve their reading skills. Students are rewarded for their reading several times during the year with various types of prizes. At the end of each semester, there is a big event for all students who have met the requirements. In the past, we have gone to a local amusement park, spent an afternoon at Fun Time Pizza, and gone to the movies. Students look forward to these rewards, and their reading skills and test scores improve at the same time. The library provides a wide selection of A.R. books covering all Dewey classifications. The A.R. program makes it easy for teachers to track and evaluate students' reading progress. The Accelerated Reader program has been a great success at Bonham!
