In the 1st grade there is much emphasis on learning to read.  Students are expected to learn to read with fluency and comprehension.  Many programs are used to assist in the reading and writing process such as Writing to Read Lab and Vale - Sing, Spell, Read and Write - Reading Recovery - Accelerated Reader.  Our goals in Math are addition, subtraction, problem solving, graphs, time, money and measurement.  Other content areas are integrated throughout the curriculum.
