The Louis R. Cappelli Foundation has primary focus in three specific areas:
- Education: educational programs that encourage collaboration among schools, parents and agencies to address innovative educational programs that encourage and foster the learning process for at-risk children.
- Health & Fitness: programs that provide innovative and worthwhile health programs or organized sports that encourage wellness and fitness, enabling at-risk children to reach their fullest potential.
- Arts Education: arts education programs that provide access to the visual and performing arts for at-risk children through a wide array of arts and related organizations.
Qualifying organizations are t hose who hold IRS 501 (c ) (3) not-for-profit status. The organizations must serve at-risk youth. While, applications from specific schools within a school district are not acceptable, applications from the school district or a schools foundation are acceptable.
Applications must be postmarked or received by the Foundation by June 30, 2006, 5:00 PM .

Toyota "TAPESTRY" |
| Toyota "TAPESTRY" grants will be awarded in three categories:
- Environmental Science Education: projects that emphasize the efficient use of natural resources and protection of the environment
- Physical Science Applications: projects that relate the laws, principles, and concepts of science (physics and chemistry) to phenomena and events relevant to students' lives.
- Literacy and Science Education: focuses on the development on literacy skills in the context of science teaching and learning.
K-12 teachers of science residing in the United States or U.S. territories or possessions are eligible to apply. All middle and high school science teachers and elementary teachers who teach some science in the classroom are eligible.
Fifty grants of up to $10,000 each will be awarded. Twenty $2,500 mini-grants will also be awarded.
Applications must be received by January 18, 2007.

| Mazda Foundation |
The Mazda Foundation awards grants to programs promoting: Education and literacy; environmental conservation; cross-cultural understanding; social welfare; and scientific research.
Organizations that have 501 (c ) (3) tax designations are eligible to apply.
The operating budget of the Mazda Foundation is approximately $400, 000 each year. Grant funding levels are based on the nature and need of the applicant program. In 2002, 55% of the operating budget was awarded to education programs.
The Mazda Foundation accepts brief applications only from May 1 through July 1. Programs in which they are interested will be required to submit a formal application.

Grant Tip of the Month |
Many RFPs require the project narrative to be formatted with line spacing of 1.5 or higher. Single spacing in tables, however, is considered standard practice and an approved exception to line-spacing requirements.
Further, tables often employ a font size that is one point smaller than the accompanying text. Both of these formatting exceptions allow you to present a lengthy set of goals and objectives in much less space when using the table format.

Allstate Foundation Wants to Make Communities Safer |
The Allstate Foundation supports programs in three focus areas; safe and vital communities; economic empowerment; and tolerance, inclusion, and diversity.
Safe and vital communities
The foundation supports a number of organizations that aim to prevent gang activity, encourage economic development in neighborhoods, and make schools and streets safer for residents. The foundation also responds with support to natural catastrophes that displace families and destroy communities.
Economic empowerment
The foundation supports education on financial literacy and economic and technological proficiency. Programs that give people the tools they need to become financially independent are a major focus of foundation support.
Tolerance, inclusion, and diversity
The foundation gives priority to programs that spotlight the unique character and diversity of American society. Programs that promote tolerance or inclusion of cultural, religious, and economic diversity receive priority consideration.
Although some programs may fit the foundation's priority focus areas, proposals may be denied because the foundation has a limited budget. The foundation does not support:
- individuals;
- fundraising events or sponsorships;
- equipment purchases;
- athletic events;
- memorials;
- athletic teams, bands, or choirs;
- religious organizations that restrict participation on the basis of religion;
- organizations that re-grant the foundation's funds to others;
- scouting groups;
- private secondary schools;
- travel expenses;
- audio, film, or video production;
- multi-year funding requests; or
- international causes.
There are no deadlines for proposals. You will receive written notice if your proposal is denied. However, you will not be notified upon receipt of your proposal.

CommunicationsFitness Supports Programs That Use
Internet Technology
for Teaching

CommunicationFitness will award grants of up to $4, 000 to grades 6 to 12 language arts teachers who want to provide a curriculum using Internet technology to enhance students' skills. This grant will cover all CommunicationFitness training and subscriptions for one year, providing unlimited access to CommunicationFitness for 200 students.
The teachers who apply must have:
- the technological ability and infrastructure to support Internet instruction;
- a curriculum plan that ensures that students get at least an hour of individualized, computer-based learning; and
- a measuring and reporting method that follows improvement levels throughout the grant's duration.
If you are a teacher and would like to apply for one of these grants, write to CommunicationFitness and include the following information:
- the grade level(s) of students in the program;
- a description of the students' demographics and academic needs;
- a brief description of how you will work CommunicationFitness into the curriculum; and
- your contact information.

| The Palmer Foundation |
The Palmer Foundation believes in honest, open communication, creativity, education and individual empowerment. With these values in mind, the Foundation seeks to empower your people to reach their potential to become responsible contributors to their families and communities. The Foundation accepts grant proposals for programs that empower young people ages 0 to 25.
In making awards, the Foundation places the highest priority on applications that:
- Demonstrate a level of cooperation with other organizations, including, leveraging financial and in-kind support from other groups
- Clearly avoids duplication of existing services
- Where applicable, demonstrates potential for continued funding from internal or other sources after the grant period
- Offer challenge grants in order to stimulate support of the project by other organizations or individuals
The Palmer Foundation accepts letters of inquiry from 501 (c ) (3) nonprofits. The Foundation's geographical region is usually limited to the Mid West states and the Mid Atlantic states, unless one of the directors has a special interest elsewhere.
Online letters of inquiry must be submitted by July 31. If the Foundation is interested in more information, a full proposal will be requested.
