Horace Mann Educator Scholarship Program
Home |
|||
The Horace Mann Companies is offering $30,000 in scholarships for public and private school educators to take college courses. To apply, you must be an educator currently employed by a U.S. public or private school district or U.S. public or private college/university and planning to enter a two or four-year accredited college or university. The college must be a public or private, not-for-profit institute. Financial need is not a consideration, but applicants who have all educational expenses paid through another scholarship and/or grants are ineligible. Unfortunately, the Horace Mann Educator Scholarship Program is not available to residents of Hawaii, New Jersey and New York. Once recipient will receive $5,000 in scholarship funds payable over four years, and fifteen other recipients will receive $1,000 each in scholarship funds payable over two years. Twenty additional recipients will each receive one-time $500 awards. Scholarship money will be paid directly to each recipient’s college or university for tuition, fees and other educational expenses. All applications must be received by May 16, 2006, to be considered. |

Verizon Foundation Home |

The Verizon Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications. In 2004, the Foundation awarded more than 26,500 grants totaling $71.4 million to charitable and nonprofit agencies that focus on improving basic literacy, advancing e-learning, and creating a skilled work force. The two major priorities of the Verizon Foundation are literacy and domestic violence. Proposals will be considered from elementary and secondary schools (public and private) that are registered with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) as well as eligible tax-exempt organizations in certain 501 (c )(3) subsections as defined by the Internal Revenue Service ( IRS). Verizon Foundation does not set limits on grant awards. However, over the past several years of grant making, the average grant has ranged between $5,000 and $10,000. In addition to cash grants, the Foundation can help you find volunteers, Internet training, or Web developers through its Web site. The Verizon Foundation accepts electronic proposals only. Unsolicited proposals are reviewed continuously from January 1st through November 30th. Visit http://foundation.verizon.com/04007.shtml on the Internet. |
