Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
Home |
|||
Each year, the President of the United States recognizes outstanding kindergarten-6th grade or 7th-12th grade mathematics and science teachers by bestowing upon them the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The more than 3,700 awardees selected since the program’s inception in 1983 are a premier group of highly qualified teachers who have both deep content knowledge of the subjects they teach and the ability to motivate and enable students to be successful in these areas. Mathematics and science teachers for grades 7 through 12th are eligible for the award in 2007. Up to 108 recipients will receive a citation signed by President Bush; an opportunity to join the dynamic network of awardees; a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation; a paid trip for two to Washington, DC, to attend a week-long series of recognition events and professional development opportunities, and gifts from sponsors of the program from around the country. Nominations forms must be postmarked by May 1, 2007. |
