Houstonville has its own cash system which gives students the opportunity to earn, save, and spend cash.  Each teacher is given a certain amount of Cougar Cash.  They use this cash as incentives to the students and also as a means of discipline.  Cougar Cash can be taken away with fines or can be given as a reward.  Students must earn Cougar Cash.  With this opportunity, the students are taught how money is earned and spent in the "real" world.  They are taught how to manage their money for the necessities as well as the extras, such as shopping.
