Legend: King Arthur Reconsidered - Camilla Richmond's essay
examines the historicity of King Arthur, complete with footnotes, and
a listing of both primary and secondary sources. This essay was
published by "The Concord Review," a publication for "examplary essays
by high school students of history from 24 countries."
- The Story
of Arthur - Sara Douglass has translated Robert Mannyng of Brunne's
"The Story of Arthur," from "The Chronicle of England." Background on
Brunne and his stories precedes the lengthy poem. Click on "The Story of
Arthur" at the bottom of each page for the four-part story. Fairly easy to
understand with occasional purposeful omissions and summarized lines. A
sampling of the poem sections includes the following: Arthur is Crowned
King, Arthur Marries Guenevore, Arthur Ordains Round Table, Glory of Court
of Arthur, and Mordred's Treachery.
- Arthur's Death: Legend
and History - Introduction, abstract, and thesis dealing with various
authors' treatments of Arthur's death: Gildas, Bede, Nennius, Layamon, and
Geoffrey of Monmouth. Also addresses Guinevere's role in Arthur's death.
