
Nikki Rowe High School is the newest addition to the McAllen
I. S. D. high schools. Rowe was established in 1990 as a ninth
grade center, but in1992 became a class 5A high school. Rowe High
School has a conglomeration of courses including: Advanced
Placement, Challenge, Honors, College Preparatory,and Regular
level courses. Rowe was the first high school in McAllen to
establish the ACE program--A Chance to Excel. Rowe also offers
the Quest program--a search for success, and Project Stay in
School.
Rowe offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities for
its students.U.I.L.events, such as accounting, computers,
science, math, and the One-Act play are just a few of the teams
Rowe has. The Warrior debate team is one of the best in the
State; along with the ever-popular choir, outstanding band, and
melodic orchestra which have all received Division I ratings.
Rowe also sets itself apart by placing some of its top students
in the Masterminds Competition.
The Rowe Warrior athletic department is one of the largest
and most dynamic organizations in the Rio Grande Valley. Varsity
Football, Basketball, Baseball, Volleyball, Softball, Tennis, Golf,
Track, and Cross-country are among some of the most exhilarating
events around. The Rowe Swim Team practices in their very own
indoor pool.
The JROTC is known all over the community and is often asked
to participate in many civic events. The Rowe FFA and FHA also
harbor some of the most talented and knowledgeable young people
around. DECA and HOSA are two other organizations Rowe has and is
very proud of. These young leaders have shown that they are not
afraid to make a difference in their communities and country, as
well as in the lives around them.
The Rowe teachers and staff are among some of the most
talented and experienced people in their fields. The Counseling
and support staff at Rowe are valuable and enhance all the
positive activities offered. The campus, named in honor of Col.
James "Nikki" Rowe, has a unique spirit about it not
found on any other campus.
