Seguin Roadrunners

Issue 5 January 16, 2002

Dear Parents,

We are off to a great start this new year. We are hoping to see improvement in attendance, behavior and academic achievement of all students. You can help by ensuring that your child comes to school daily and on time, follows all school rules and completes all homework assignments.

There are a few items that I need to make you aware of:

Student Drop-Off

Please remember that there are no teachers on duty before 7:30 a.m. For your child’s safety, please do not drop him/her off before this time.

Visiting Campus

All doors will continue to remain locked throughout the school day. Visitors must use front entrance and report to the office. All visitors will need to sign in and receive a visitor’s pass before they can enter the building. We will continue to greet your child at the door and walk them to class.

School Board Recognition Month

January has been proclaimed as School Board Recognition Month. Our fourth and fifth grade students will be working on some projects to show our appreciation to our school board member.

We would like to thank all parents and students who helped make our fundraiser a success. As you know the top seller from each grade level will receive a scooter. The winners are:

Report Cards

Report cards will be sent home tomorrow, Wednesday, January 16th.

Group Pictures

Group pictures will be taken Friday, January 18th. Please send the money to your child’s teacher, if you wish to purchase this picture.

Traffic

We appreciate the support of many of our families who have been cooperating with our traffic plan. This has made the flow much easier, during these months of construction. Also, please remember that the first bell rings at 7:45 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. Please get your child to school on time.

Swimming Program

Our third grade students will start the swimming program from January 21st - February 8th from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., at Nikkie Rowe High School. Please make sure that they do not forget their swimsuit, towel and slippers. Students will not be allowed to call home if they forget something.

Fort Worth Symphony

Students in second through fifth grade will be attending the symphony at the McAllen Civic Center on Thursday and Friday, January 24th and 25th. This is a special treat for the students. This event will take place in the afternoon.
